​To know the history of this flower, let’s immerse ourselves in the romantic universe worthy of a fairy tale. 

The legend from the Philippines tells that a couple who wanted to have a child in vain finally had the happiness of seeing their wish excused thanks to divine intervention. They received a gift of a little girl whom they named “Ylang”. However, it was not a gratuitous act... It was strictly forbidden for anyone to touch the child.​. 

​As the years passed, Ylang had become a very beautiful young girl, very courted by men because in addition to being very beautiful, she was helpful and remarkably kind. Despite the many suitors, only one had won her heart, but it was an impossible love given the conditions imposed on her parents at the time of her birth. ​. 

The young man for his part could only show his affection for the young girl by offering her gifts. This is how one day, he offered her a bouquet of flowers but upon grabbing the present, their hands touched and the young girl was immediately transformed into a tropical tree adorned with magnificent yellow flowers with a captivating scent. emerged. ​.   

​Since that day, overcome by pain, the young man has never stopped shouting her name..."Ylang-Ylang"... ...​"... ... !

It is therefore no coincidence that this essential oil is renowned for “titillating” our senses, with its natural, sensual and aphrodisiac fragrance.


Origin


Originally from Southeast Asia, and more mainly from the Philippines, Indonesia and Malaysia, the Ylang-Ylang flower is widely used in cosmetics and perfumery. It was in 1860 in Manila that a sailor, Albert Schwenger, carried out the distillation of Ylang-Ylang for the first time.

​ ​The flowers are yellow to pale green in star shape composed of long petals. Its intense, warm and powerful smell resembles that of Jasmine.

Gynecological antispasmodic

- Hypotensive, antiarrhythmic (palpitations, extrasystoles, hypertension) 

- Dermatosis, skin parasitosis (scabies), general parasiticide 

- Ortho and parasympathetic neuroregulator 

- Aphrodisiac, sexual tonic, frigidity 

-Toner for skin and scalp

 




Emotional therapeutic properties

-Balancing, nervous overwork, stress, nervousness, anger and irritability, hysteria, anxiety, fear, phobia, calming, relaxing, anxiolytic, soothing 

- Emotional shock, in case of bereavement, feeling of loneliness; allows introverts to become extroverted

- Use in case of detoxification (addiction)

Contraindications

- Prohibited for pregnant and breastfeeding women

​- Caution in hypotensive people

- For pure use, it may be irritating for autotopic skin (do a skin test)

 Recipe: Hair care

To tone the scalp and against hair loss

- Simply add 2 drops of Ylang Ylang essential oils to your shampoo, leave on for 5 minutes before rinsing properly.
